Veterinarian & Co-Founder
From the time she was four years old, Dr. Allison Jenkins knew she wanted to become a veterinarian. That childhood dream grew into a lifelong dedication to caring for animals of all kinds—from newborn kittens to powerful rhinos. At the heart of her work is a deep love for the human–animal bond and the lasting relationships she builds with families and their pets.
Dr. Jenkins began her academic journey at Texas A&M University, where she earned her undergraduate degree, before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. Along the way, she pursued unique externship opportunities, including working with the wild horses of Easter Island and gaining hands-on experience in wildlife medicine in South Africa. There, she assisted with anesthesia research in crocodiles, wildebeest, and nyala antelope, and worked closely with rhinos and buffalo on pregnancy checks, preventive care, and relocation projects.
During her first two years in practice, Dr. Jenkins worked primarily as an equine veterinarian while also treating cows, goats, sheep, llamas, and pigs. Although she loves all animals, her greatest joy comes from walking alongside pets and their people throughout every stage of life. With that passion as her guide, she transitioned into small-animal medicine 20 years ago and has never looked back.
Her career path has taken her from Oregon to Texas and then to Colorado, where she opened her own neighborhood veterinary clinic in Denver in 2013. She and her husband even lived above the clinic for the first couple of years, fully immersing themselves in the community as the practice grew and thrived. After starting their family in 2018, they found themselves missing the trees, water, music, food, and Southern hospitality of Texas. In 2023, they returned home to Austin, where the adventure continues.
Today, Dr. Jenkins is thrilled to be partnering with her longtime friend, Dr. Charlie Meynier, to create a welcoming and compassionate veterinary clinic in the heart of Tarrytown. She looks forward to providing excellent medical care while building meaningful, long-term relationships with clients and their pets.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Jenkins enjoys time with her husband, Ashton, their two children, River and Beau, and their two crazy dogs, Jerry and Stevie. She loves being outdoors, concerts, and spending quiet moments with her horse, Casey (a lifelong companion of over 20 years). She is grateful to be home in Texas and serve the Tarrytown neighborhood and beyond.
